City releases information on holiday parade contest and tree lighting date

Post Date:11/16/2018 1:00 PM
MONTGOMERY – Festivities for the 2018 holiday season begin November 27 in the Capital of Dreams with the lighting of the City's Christmas Tree at 5:30 p.m. at Lister Hill Plaza across from Montgomery City Hall. Another annual River Region tradition, the City of Montgomery Christmas and Camellia Bowl Parade, is set for December 14 at 6:15 p.m.

The City’s Department of Special Events is now accepting float submissions for the parade, which will once again include the teams, fans and marching bands visiting Montgomery for the ESPN Raycom Media Camellia Bowl. Register your float here

All float entries must be submitted by December 7 and include a $25 nonrefundable registration fee. This year, officials are limiting the number of entries to 80 floats. Entries are divided into three categories: business, adult and children/youth, which allows all ages a chance to participate. One entry from each category will win prizes sponsored by Sam’s Club.

The parade will begin at 6:15 p.m. at the steps of the state capitol and end at Court Square Fountain. Participants can stage their floats prior to the event at Cramton Bowl.

For more information about registration and float guidelines, contact the Montgomery Special Events Department at (334) 625-2118 or visit www.montgomeryal.gov or funinmontgomery.com.
