The City of Montgomery invites sculptors to submit proposals for Montgomery’s Downtown Sculpture Gallery. The works selected for this public art exhibition will be on loan to the City for a period of up to two (2) years and can be available for sale during that time.
The City of Montgomery Public Art Commission is seeking to develop a Downtown Sculpture Gallery. The initial phase of the project will feature a maximum of ten pieces throughout downtown.
Artwork may be in any media and must be durable, suitable for outdoors and able to withstand the elements as well as interaction with pedestrians and the general public. Works may be functional or non-functional. Existing sculptures as well as new artworks are accepted.
Pedestals may be placed directly on the sidewalk and must conform to the following guidelines for pedestrian safety.
Artwork must not weigh more than 5000 lbs.
From base of sculpture to 7’ in height the artwork must be no wider than 3’8”. This is to ensure adequate pedestrian passage.
Above the 7’ mark sculpture can have a 5’ max width.
The base of the sculpture can be no larger than 4’ x 4’.
Duration of Installation
Selected sculptures will be expected to be loaned to the City for a period one to two years beginning in the summer of 2018.
