JOHN GRAY

John Gray began his career in Telecommunications with Centel Business Systems in 1982, where he progressed through the ranks from Technician I to Systems Project Manager. He was hired by the City of Montgomery’s Finance Department in 1988 to assume the role of Systems Technician, maintaining the City’s telecom systems and infrastructure. In 1998, he was promoted to serve as Telecommunication Division Head, managing the City’s Telecom operations - including E-9-1-1 PSAP systems, fiber optic infrastructure, WAN transport, wireless services and telecom expenditures. As of October 2005, Mr. Gray and his team have been under the leadership of the newly created Communications Department.

Mr. Gray attended Auburn University, holds an Associate Degree in Electronic Technologies from John Patterson Tech, a Rolm 9000 Certification, an IBM/Rolm 9751 Certification, and a Microsoft Certification from the Technology Resource Institute.

Mr. Gray is a member of the Alabama Telecommunications Management Association (ATMA), and Joint Users of Siemens Technologies – United States (JUST-US). He may be contacted at: jtgray@montgomeryal.gov
