Montgomery Fire/Rescue has strived to be the finest fire service organization possible by utilizing and developing our members to their fullest potential, maximizing the use of available resources, and being responsive to the growth and changing needs of the City of Montgomery. As a result we have maintained a Class 2 ISO rating providing residence with some of the lowest fire insurance cost in the area.
In 2002, we completed converting our rescue fleet to modular units and added a sixth unit to keep pace with the growing call volume and maintain response times that are among the best in the nation. We have two state-of-the-art Hazardous Materials Unit covering the city. These units will enable us to stay ahead of the ever increasing industrial traffic that moves through the City of Montgomery.
Fighting Muscular Dystrophy
Montgomery Fire/Rescue has been involved with other fire departments across the nation raising money to fight muscular dystrophy in an effort termed the boot drive. In 1998 the department was recognized by the Governor of Alabama for its efforts.
