MISSION
 The mission of the Division of Training is to provide the City of Montgomery with highly trained and effective Fire Fighters. The Training Division is comprised of a nine member staff of Training Officers responsible for carrying out the objectives of the Fire Department. The Division of Training is responsible for training required for new Firefighter Recruits as well as continuing education for existing Fire Department personnel. Academic courses taught by the Training Division include: 22 week Recruit School, 8 week Officer Candidate School, Emergency Medical Services Training, various Fire College Certification Courses, and Monthly Company Drills. In addition to the academic training conducted through the division, Public Education and the Recruitment of new personnel is also a function of the Division of Training. Our goal is to furnish a disciplined environment conducive to learning and to provide professional instruction to prepare Fire Fighters to meet the public service and public safety needs of the citizens of City of Montgomery.
PUBLIC EDUCATION
Montgomery Fire/Rescue Public Education Programs consist of Freddy the Fire Truck, the Smoke House, Sparky the Fire Dog, Fire Station Tours, Fire Safety and Fire Extinguisher classes and Career Programs.
Freddy the Fire Truck
Freddy has been with the Montgomery Fire/Rescue Public Education Program since August of 1982. Freddy has played a major part in helping to educate children from preschool to third grade with basic fire safety tips such as, 911, Stop-Drop and Roll, and not playing with matches.
