The Inspections Department is responsible for enforcing the 2003 Editions of the International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Existing Building Code, International Energy Conservation Code, International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fuel Gas Code, International Property Maintenance Code and the 2005 National Electrical Code. The Technical Codes provide for public safety, health and general welfare through structural strength, stability, sanitation and safety to life and property from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment and by regulation the installation and maintenance of all Electrical, Gas, Mechanical and Plumbing systems. A subsequent function is generating revenue by the issuance of permits and providing the applicable inspections.
