PLANNING CONTROLS DIVISION

OUR DIVISION

The Planning Controls Division was created to oversee the day to day operations of the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Regulations and Historic Ordinance. We are also the staff for the Planning Commission, Board of Adjustment, Historic Preservation Commission, and Architectural Review Board. Our Division is responsible for rezoning requests, development plan review, platting process, variances/special exceptions, historic property alterations and historic property designations.

MISSION

The Planning Controls Division’s mission is to promote (within the City and its extraterritorial jurisdictions) the development of livable communities and an enhanced quality of life through a framework of orderly growth and development that reflects the unique history, culture and diversity of Montgomery in a manner consistent with the Land Use Plan, the priorities and policies established by the City Council, the Commissions appointed by City Council and the Community-at-large.
