The Municipal Jail houses persons arrested for misdemeanor charges as well as those serving jail sentences ordered by the Municipal Court. The Municipal Jail also has a contract with the U.S. Marshals for short-term housing of Federal prisoners. These prisoners are typically awaiting trial or sentencing.
