The Engineering Department provides construction coordination services for most public works projects constructed by or through the various departments. Contract documents and specifications are prepared and construction services are either solicited directly or advertised for public notice consistent with the State of Alabama Bid Law.

The Engineering Department administers the construction contracts and coordinates and monitors construction activities to ensure all work is carried out to meet all applicable City, State, and/or Federal requirements prior to final acceptance by the City for future maintenance.
