Groundwater sampling has occurred at the North Montgomery Sanitary Landfill since 1992. Thirteen groundwater wells and two blanks (field and bailer) are sampled every six months around the perimeter of the landfill to ensure the quality of ground water remains leachate free. The parameters that the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) has requested the City of Montgomery test for are metals and volatile organics. Environmental Technicians collect samples from each well, sign Chain of Custody forms, and then send the samples to an outside firm for analysis.
