GENETTA PARK STREAM RESTORATION PROJECT The Genetta Park Project is part of the exciting West Montgomery Initiative Plan. An important element to the West Montgomery Initiative Plan is to revitalize the West Fairview Avenue area because of its important historic value and because the location is one of the first things visitors see from I-65. The City's goal is to stabilize, revitalize and reinvigorate this gateway area both residentially and economically thus making it a more attractive entrance for visitors and residents. Part of the plan is to create more green space along Fairview Avenue. Genetta Park will be more than just a green space area, it will be a beautiful park that will restore the ecology of the area by recreating the natural wetland system to clean the stormwater runoff before it is released downstream. Genetta Park has two essential elements: provide a high-quality natural environment of wetlands and stream beds; and a provide a high-quality manmade environment of small winding paths and landscaping which will connect to the neighborhood. Phase II of the project is underway now.
