Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange invites everyone to the Capital City Christmas Parade, Friday, December 7, 2012. The parade will begin at 6pm, immediately following the Governor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Capitol which begins at 5:15pm.
There will be food vendors, starting at 5:30 p.m. along the parade route selling various food and beverage items.
The parade will have around 100 entries this year. Some of the special guests will include actors and actresses dressed up as the fairy tale characters Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins, Little Bo Peep, Hannah Montana, Pirate, Spiderman and Batman all presented by The Party Palace. Big Mo and the Biscuits Staff, ASU Marching Hornets, local high school marching bands, Coca-Cola, local radio stations, The Space Walker will have their train and 12 popular characters like Dora, SpongeBob, and Elmo, Capital City Rollin’ Rebels, The Millbrook Revelers Mardi Gras Krewe, lots of school and church groups and of course Santa Claus will be included in this year’s parade, along with many other organizations and businesses.
In addition to candy, some entries will also throw beads, cups, stuffed animals and t-shirts. The Historic Dexter Avenue will be the main focal point with the parade beginning at the steps of the Capitol and ending at the Court Square Fountain. The Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting will take place at the conclusion of the Christmas Parade, around 7:30pm at Klein Park, directly across from the fountain.
