Our Department
This department is responsible for providing the citizens of the City of Montgomery with garbage and trash collection. The authorized departmental manning strength is 331 employees. The department services approximately 70,000 residences three times per week. Garbage collection is provided twice per week and trash collection is provided once per week. Bulk trash disposal is provided every Saturday at 13 drop off locations throughout the city (effective October 3, 2009, bulk trash disposal will change, see below).
Bulk trash collection is now every 1st and 3rd Saturday from 9am-3:30pm. Recycling is collected at seven of these locations from 9am-2:30pm. For more information, please follow the Recycling Update

Mission
The Sanitation Department's mission is to provide quality and professional customer service to the citizens of Montgomery through the efficient and timely collection and disposal of Solid Waste and Recyclables from 70,000 customers per week in an environmentally safe and cost efficient manner in accordance with State and Federal Regulations and City Policies.
