Engineering Survey CrewThe City Engineering Survey Division provides land surveying services including, but not limited to, locating public rights-of-way, public easements, encroachments, and elevations. This division has the task of maintaining records of dedicated public rights-of-way, maps of City-owned properties, and addressing any encroachments on the City rights-of-way.

This division performs design surveys of new construction for City of Montgomery projects and amends past surveys for construction additions on existing City of Montgomery facilities. Additionally, the Survey Division works in conjunction with the Alabama Department of Transporation, Montgomery County, and all utility companies in design and relocation, if necessary, of in-place or proposed assets relating to City of Montgomery public works projects. The Survey Division is the primary data collector for scene reconstruciton surveys on all traffic fatalities within the City of Montgomery, working hand-in-hand with accident investigators in the Montgomery Police Department.

The Survey Division uses both conventional electronic survey methods and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology to carry out their various duties.

IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE CITY OF MONTGOMERY SURVEY DIVISION DOES NOT DO ANY WORK REGARDING PRIVATE ISSUES. Common requests of this nature are disputes between land owners regarding property lines, fence locations, etc. We do not perform any type of flood elevation certificates. These services should be contracted through a private surveying firm.
