ADEM and EPA investigated site; evaluated cleanup options; City passed ordinance for no wells downtown.
2008 - 2010
EPA began supplemental investigation and identified four Potentially Responsible Parties. Montgomery Water Works closed well field and relocated wells away from downtown.
2011 - 2012
Potential Indoor Air Quality issues identified at County Annex III building and Attorney General Buildings. Tests showed no identified contaminants exceeded health screening levels. Remedies implemented at both buildings.
2012 - 2015
City of Montgomery, Montgomery County, Montgomery Water Works Board, State of Alabama and Montgomery Advertiser form Downtown Alliance. Negotiate repayment of EPA past costs and sign agreement with ADEM to complete investigation.
March 2016 - ADEM Approval of Community Involvement and Outreach Plan
May 2016 - ADEM Approval of Technical Work Plan
July 2016 - Begin field work to implement Technical Work Plan
September 2016 - Begin Phase II Field Work to evaluate potential for vapor migration from the groundwater
December 2016 -Conduct Phase II water level monitoring
February 2017 - Conduct wet weather seasonal evaluation of groundwater and river levels.
May 2017 - Submit Environmental Investigation Report to ADEM.
July 2017 - ADEM comments on Environmental Investigation Report.
October 2017 - DEA submits final Supplemental Environmental Invesigation Report.
July 2018- Submitted Draft Risk Assessment/Alternatives Analysis (RA/AA) Report to ADEM
September 2018- ADEM comments on Risk Assessment/Alternatives Analysis (RA/AA) Report received
February 2019 - DEA submitted Final Risk Assessment/Alternatives Analysis (RA/AA) Report
March 2019 – ADEM letter of concurrence received
