Named for one of the Civil Rights pioneers from Montgomery, the Community Center is immediately adjacent to E.D. Nixon Elementary School. Both the playground and the enclosed gym space are used for physical education classes during the school year. The site also has large open play space, and rooms that support computers, arts and crafts classes, meeting space, and table games. A small kitchen with stove, refrigerator and ice machine, and offices, complete the center. After school and a full day summer program are offered for children. Open gym play for adults is scheduled in the evenings and on Saturday, and the center is available for community meetings and rentals.
