Welcome to the City of Montgomery Benefits Division page. The Benefits Division is a division of the Risk Management Department that provides and maintains a competitive benefits package for eligible employees, retirees, and their dependents as well as provide wellness incentives with the utilization of the City's Primary Care & Wellness Centers.
The City's benefits package is composed of Core benefits (Medical, Dental, Prescription, Mental Health, Vision, Flexible Spending Accounts, Life Insurance, & Deferred Compensation) and Voluntary benefits through Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company. Group Health Plan
The City's Group Health Plan consists of Medical & Dental (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama), Prescription (EHO), and Mental Health/Substance Abuse coverage (American Behavioral).
Two medical plans are offered based on hire date:
Traditional PPO Plan - Employees hired before May 23, 2014 have the option to enroll in this plan. PPO SBC 2018
HMP (Health Management Plan) - Employees hired May 23, 2014 & after only have this plan as an option. HMP SBC 2018
Retiree Health Plans
Retirees under the age of 65 also have the option of both the PPO & HMP Plans.
2018 HMP Plan SBC - Pre-65 Retiree
Retirees over the age of 65, or considered "Medicare-eligible", are enrolled in the City's Group Plan or have the option to enroll in a Medicare Advantage or Medigap plan through Via Benefits, a private Medicare marketplace.

Other Employee Benefits
Flexible Spending Accounts are administered by Alliance Insurance Group (AIG). Retirees are not eligible for flexible spending accounts.
Vision Coverage is administered by Vision Service Plan (VSP). Retirees are not eligible for vision coverage unless enrolled through Via Benefits.
Basic Life Insurance is administered by the Standard for all full time employees and eligible retirees.

CareHere Primary Care and Wellness Centers
The City of Montgomery provides Primary Care and Wellness Centers, CareHere, free of charge for all employees, retirees, and dependents (age 7 and up) insured on the City's health plan. These centers offer extensive wellness services such as weight management counseling, exercise counseling, smoking cessation and disease management.
Providers are a 90/10 mix of physicians and certified nurse practitioners. CareHere can also dispense up to 185 generic drugs and can write prescriptions to be filled by an outside pharmacy if needed. The Centers cannot fill prescriptions written by another provider. You must be seen by a CareHere doctor to receive prescriptions. Ask your CareHere doctor if you qualify for the 90-day Mail Order Program!

Appointments and No Show Policy
If you are not already registered to use CareHere, you must register using the Access Code - CMTG6 (Retirees will use CMRE9). Once you are registered, you will be able to start using the Centers immediately. Registration and appointments can be done online www.carehere.com or by calling toll free 1-877-423-1330.
