Zoo Weekend

Zoo Weekend, March 7-8, 9am - 6pm

  • Introduction: Festive environment with live entertainment, games, rides, concessions and animals from around the world. Enjoy the many activities, fantastic food and have fun together at an affordable price. It is also an excellent opportunity to take advantage of discounted memberships.

YOU’RE INVITED to the Montgomery Zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum’s 44th Annual Zoo Weekend Saturday and Sunday, March 7-8, 9am - 6pm daily. 

During this two-day event the Montgomery Zoo is transformed into a amazing carnival like atmosphere for everyone from two to 92, with two stages of entertainment, games, rides, bouncy houses, giant inflatable slides, pony and camel rides, petting zoo, animal encounters, Montgomery Fire Department’s Smoke House, Montgomery Police Department K-9 Unit, live animal presentations, concessions, baked goodies, and more. Special appearances include Zoobeedoo, Big Mo, McGruff the Crime Dog, Lisa’s Party Palace characters, and more.

Zoo Weekend is our biggest fundraiser of the year.  All event proceeds from this event will be contributed to the construction of a new reptile facility with its featuring animals including the critically endangered, Indian Gharial, Komodo Dragon, and King Cobra.

Admission fees are:
     -- Adults: $17
     -- Children (3-12 years old): $13
     -- Toddlers (2 years old and younger): FREE
     -- Montgomery Zoo members: FREE
     -- Discounted memberships available
Membership admission: In order to use your Montgomery Zoo membership to gain entry to the Zoo/Museum for regular daytime admission (and qualified nighttime events, like Christmas Lights Festival), the specified, adult members listed on the membership must have their Montgomery Zoo-issued membership card along with a valid government-issued photo identification. If you have lost, misplaced, do not have, or have not received your membership cards, you must provide a valid government-issued photo identification to use your membership to gain entry to the Zoo/Museum for regular daytime admission (and qualified nighttime events, like Christmas Lights Festival).  No exceptions. If you have lost your membership card, please call (334) 625-4905 for a replacement card. Fees may apply. 

Guest Passes:
Guest passes are NOT intended to be used for admission to any special event; including nighttime events.  GUEST PASSES MAY NOT BE USED DURING ZOO WEEKEND!  No one will be able to use a GUEST PASS for admission to any special or nighttime event; only the people listed on the membership will be provided admission. Guest passes must be present for admission (one guest pass per entry). Entry/admission will not be allowed without the guest pass (one guest pass per entry) being present. 

Game/Ride Tickets are $5 per sheet of ten tickets.  Most games/rides require at least 2 tickets.  Animal Encounters and other Zoo Attractions like the train, Zoofari Skylift, animal encounters and petting zoo require anywhere from six to 10 tickets.

     -- Parakeet Cove: Enter an open aired aviary with hundreds of parakeets. Entry: FREE, Feed available for $2 or 4 tickets
     -- Giraffe Encounter Post: (located at the Giraffe Exhibit by the Overlook Cafe): $3 or 6 tickets per person, includes entry to the deck and feed. All guests entering the giraffe deck must pay encounter admission.
     -- Pony Ride: (located at the playground): $5 or 10 tickets per person, per ride

Concessions, snacks, and refreshments
BBQ Shack and Art Tent: The BBQ Shack & Art tent will be selling and best BBQ sandwiches east of Texas, along with smoked turkey legs, refreshing bottled Coke, and bottled water.  Also, there will be a fine collection of Animal Art for sale. Each of these masterpieces was created by local zoo residents. Proceeds from these sales will be contributed to conservation efforts and to the design and construction of our new REPTILE FACILITY. 

ZOO SOUVENIRS and SNACKS: Located near the squirrel monkey exhibit, The Zoo Gift Shop tent will be selling assorted zoo-themed t-shirts, plush animals, zoofari toys, cold drinks (sodas and water), and select yummy frozen treats.

Purchase memberships at a discounted price
In celebration of Zoo Weekend, guests have the opportunity to purchase memberships at a reduced rate.  Save $10 on both memberships and guests passes March 1-14.  You may purchase your membership at the Zoo during Zoo Weekend or avoid the rush and the crowd by purchasing your membership today online.  

Additional parking and bus shuttles
Due to the large crowds expected during Zoo Weekend, additional FREE parking has been made available at the Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) located at 1400 Coliseum Blvd, 36110. Shuttle buses will be running throughout the day, 8:30am - 6:30pm making sure everyone returns to their cars safely. 
     -- Please refrain from parking in no parking or questionable parking areas; including apartment building lots, shopping center lots, and church parking lots.  Your car may be towed, and the cost of recovery will be at your expense. Also, to avoid car break-ins, refrain from leaving items in plain view in your car. Store items in your trunk or out of sight.    
     -- Parking at Zoo: FREE
     -- Parking at ADEM: FREE
     -- Shuttle service from ADEM to Zoo (and return): FREE, running 8:30am - 6:30pm (Saturday and Sunday)
