Military Appreciation Day -- POSTPONED

Military Appreciation Day, Thursday, June 18 at Montgomery Zoo

  • Introduction: Montgomery Zoo invites all active duty and retired military personnel to visit the Zoo for free on Military Appreciation Day, Thursday, June 18. Maxwell Air Force Base, the Zoo, the Montgomery Chamber, and local sponsors partner to hold this annual event that recognizes our national heroes.

A big thank you and salute to all the proud men, women, and their families that proudly serve our nation in the armed forces.  
The Montgomery Zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum invites all active duty and retired military personnel to visit the zoo for free on Military Appreciation Day, Thursday, June 20.  Maxwell Air Force Base, the Zoo, the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, and local sponsors partner to hold this annual event that recognizes our nation’s men and women in military service.

Free admission to the zoo and museum will be provided for active duty and retired military personnel, their dependent children, and spouses.  Admission also includes one free train ride for each guest.  The event includes lunch, served from 11:45am - 1pm, and drinks are provided all day.  Representatives from Maxwell Air Force Base, the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Montgomery will address military families attending.  Valid military identification must be provided to receive free admission.


Admission includes:

  • Admission to the Zoo
  • Admission to the Mann Wildlife Learning Museum 
  • One train ride
  • Entry to the Petting Zoo
  • Entry to Parakeet Cove
  • Entry to Stingray Bay
  • Admission to Elephant keeper talk at 10:30am daily 
  • Admission to Lion keeper talk and training at 1pm daily
