Public Viewing of Returns Moved to Montgomery City Hall for Oct. 8 Election

Post Date:10/07/2019 10:00 AM
MONTGOMERY – The Montgomery County Election Center will be closed to the public Tuesday, Oct. 8. Only essential election personnel will be permitted to enter the Center at 125 Washington Ave. This move comes at the recommendation of the Election Center and the concurrence of the City.

Public viewing of election returns will take place in Montgomery City Hall’s Council Auditorium, 103 N. Perry Street. Viewing will begin at 7 p.m. and last until all of the returns are available.

Montgomery City Clerk Brenda Blalock and General Counsel Hugh Evans, of the Alabama Secretary of State’s Office, will be in the counting room during the counting of the returns at the Election Center to provide additional support as needed. The Election Center staff chose to close the Election Center to the public for safety, integrity and traffic control purposes.

Members of the media should come to the Council Auditorium to monitor elections returns.
