Montgomery, Ala. - Montgomery Fire/Rescue today announced the launch of its first‑ever Citizens Fire Academy, an immersive, behind‑the‑scenes program designed to give residents a close‑up look at the people, skills, and systems that protect our community every day. The Academy offers a safe, structured environment for participants to learn directly from fire and EMS professionals through demonstrations, discussions, and practical activities.
The Citizens Fire Academy runs for eight consecutive weeks, Mondays from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., rotating across multiple Montgomery Fire/Rescue facilities to showcase the breadth of operations citywide. Sessions will cover core disciplines, including fire suppression, rescue techniques, and emergency medical services, and culminate in a special graduation celebration recognizing each participant’s commitment to community safety.
The program runs Monday, March 2, 2026, through Monday, April 20, 2026. Residents can sign up now using the Academy registration link: https://forms.office.com/g/54Y3phqQAY. Space may be limited; early registration is encouraged.
“The Citizens Fire Academy is more than a program, it’s a partnership,” said Interim Fire Chief Russell G. Collier. “We want our residents to see firsthand the dedication and expertise that go into keeping Montgomery safe every day.”
“This initiative reflects our commitment to transparency and community engagement,” added Communications Director Miguel Diaz-Lucier. “It’s an opportunity for citizens to connect with the men and women behind the badge and gain a deeper understanding of public safety.”
