Betty Beville is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the City who has oversight responsibilities for the operations of the Finance, Risk Management, Procurement, Information Technology and Grants Departments.  She is a leader for nearly one hundred employees.  Those employees are responsible for financial administration, accounts receivables and payables, payroll processing, purchasing, internal audits, worker's compensation, the internal service fund, drug testing, grants accounting, fixed asset accountability, cash management, bank account reconciliations, enterprise funds, revenue collections, issuance of business licenses, and all technical services rendered to city departments and the citizens of Montgomery.

As a retiree from state government with approximately twenty-seven years of service, Beville worked as a Finance Department Manager for the Administrative Office of Courts until February 2004.  She retired from state government to fill the position of Accounting Manager with the City of Montgomery.  After being with the City for less than two years, she was promoted to Deputy Finance Director, where she assisted the Finance Director in managing the City's financial affairs.   Beville became the Interim Finance Director in December 2019 and remained in that position until she was appointed as Finance Director by Mayor Stephen L. Reed in May 2020.

Beville attended elementary, junior high and high schools in Livingston, Alabama. Afterward, she attended the University of West Alabama (formerly Livingston University).  Beville ultimately completed her undergraduate studies at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama, where she received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry.  She also holds a B.S. degree with an accounting concentration and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Troy University.  She is also a 2014 graduate of Leadership Montgomery.

She is married to Johnny L. Beville, a retiree with more than 41 years of service from United Parcel Service.  She and her husband are the proud parents of Adrian L. Beville (Jennifer) and Jocelyn Beville Defoe (Bertrand) and the very proud grandparents of three granddaughters, Aleha Amani, Averin Sophia and Karys Amara.  Her hobbies include reading, cooking, traveling and being someone who will always answer a call of service whenever there is a need to do so.
