Fighting Muscular Dystrophy
Montgomery Fire/Rescue, along with other fire departments across the nation, have committed to raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) to aid in the fight against muscular dystrophy. The annual money raising effort has been termed the "boot drive" or "filling the boot", due to the boots the firemen use when collecting funds from generous civilians. Since 1998, the department has contributed over $1 million to MDA.
Sparky is a long time figure for Fire Departments all over the country. He is always excited to make new friends and help promote fire safety to the community.
“Freddy the Fire Truck” is a self-propelled, remote controlled educational tool designed to enhance fire safety education efforts. Not only can “Freddy” talk, he also has red lights, blinking eyes, a siren, squirts water and performs a host of other maneuvers that can captivate a young audience attention when emphasizing important educational points.
