The Montgomery Police Department offers citizens the chance to experience what it’s like to be a police officer through its Citizen Police Academy. The Academy is a free program for any citizen in the Montgomery area.
CPA is a free 11-week program that meets once a week for three hours, on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The academy provides hands-on training classes in a friendly atmosphere. The classes/sessions cover a wide variety of subjects from basic law enforcement and their role in the community. Course curriculum: Criminal & Constitutional Law, Ethics, SWAT, K-9 Demonstrations, Patrol ride-along, and much more. Participants who complete the training course are presented a certification of completion from the Chief of Police at the last session.
