What Plan Am I In?

The retirement Plan you are in depends on your group classification, employment date and/or applicable elections you may have made.

Group Membership

  • Group I – General Municipal Employees
  • Group IA – All Airport Authority Employees
  • Group II – Police and Fire Department employees sworn to uphold public safety

Plans

Group I & IA – 20 Year Plan
  • Participants hired or rehired prior to 10/1/2005
Group II – 20 Year Plan
  • Participants hired or rehired prior to 10/1/2005
Group I & IA – 25 Year Plan
  • Participants hired or rehired between 10/1/2005 and 9/30/2013
  • Participants who elected to transition from the 20 Year Plan during the election period
  • Participants who have transitioned from the 20 Year Plan within the first 3 months after reaching 25 years of creditable service
Group II – 25 Year Plan
  • Participants hired or rehired between 10/1/2005 and 9/30/2013
  • Participants who elected to transition from the 20 Year Plan during the election period
  • Participants who have transitioned from the 20 Year Plan within the first 3 months after reaching 25 years of creditable service
Group I & IA– Cash Balance Plan
  • Participants hired or rehired 10/1/2013 or later
  • Participants in the 20 or 25 Year Plans who froze their benefits and transitioned to the Cash Balance Plan during the election period
Group II – Age 62 Plan
  • Participants hired or rehired 10/1/2013 or later
