Chief of Staff Ettice Brickus

Ettice Brickus, who has 24 years of service, joined the Montgomery Police Department in July of 2025 after a celebrated law enforcement career at Baltimore Police Department. She serves as second in command to Police Chief Jim Graboys, overseeing the day-to-day operations, policy development, budget administration, and strategic management of the agency.

Academically, Chief Brickus holds a Doctoral candidacy at Gwynedd Mercy University and multiple degrees from The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore City Community College, and the University of Maryland University College. Her executive credentials also include training from Cornell University and the Senior Management Institute for Policing.

She is also an active member of national professional organizations including the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), FBI LEEDA, and the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF).

Chief of Investigations John Hall

John Hall, who has more than 22 years of service, joined the Montgomery Police Department in April of 2002 upon completing the Montgomery Police Academy. During his tenure, he has completed numerous training and leadership courses while achieving success in a variety of capacities and positions of rank including: Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division, and the Patrol Investigations Bureau.

Chief of Operations Denise Barnes

Deputy Chief Denise Barnes, who has more than 22 years of service, joined the Montgomery Police Department in 2002. After completing the Montgomery Police Academy, she served as a patrolwoman in various areas throughout the City of Montgomery. During her tenure, she has completed numerous training and leadership courses while achieving success in a variety of capacities and positions of rank including: Special Services (Traffic, River District, School Enforcement, and Community Policing), Criminal Investigations, Public Information, Neighborhood Enhancement Team (N.E.T.), Domestic Violence, Patrol, and Administrative Division. In July of 2022, she was promoted to the rank of Deputy Chief and currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Operations. As the Deputy Chief of Operations she currently manages personnel assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division and Traffic Division.
