Kirsten Williams is a mechanical engineer with a concentration in nuclear systems and a passion for engineering innovation, energy infrastructure, and STEM education. She graduated from Alabama A&M University in December 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and currently serves as a Distribution Engineer with Alabama Power, where she supports the design and reliability of electrical distribution systems that power communities across Alabama.

During her time at Alabama A&M University, Kirsten demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and professional development. She served on executive boards within the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Students of Southern Company, working alongside industry leaders and peers to promote opportunities in engineering and the energy sector. She was also a participant in the Youth Leadership Forum, an emerging leadership initiative focused on developing young leaders dedicated to strengthening the Birmingham community.

Kirsten’s technical experience includes serving as Team Lead for a research project focused on X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), where she contributed to research involving advanced material surface analysis. She also interned with the McWane Science Center in Birmingham, supporting educational initiatives that inspire curiosity and engagement in STEM among young learners.

Kirsten is deeply committed to expanding access to STEM education for students who may not otherwise have exposure to engineering and scientific careers. Through both her professional work and community engagement, she strives to bring engineering innovation into classrooms and communities, helping inspire the next generation of problem-solvers, innovators, and leaders in STEM.
