Welcome to the City of Montgomery Benefits Division page. The Benefits Division is a division of the Risk Management Department that provides and maintains a competitive benefits package for eligible employees, retirees, and their dependents as well as provide wellness incentives with the utilization of the City's Primary Care & Wellness Centers.

The City's benefits package is composed of Core benefits (Medical, Dental, Prescription, Mental Health, Vision, Flexible Spending Accounts, Life Insurance, & Deferred Compensation) and Voluntary benefits through Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company.

Important Announcements

2020 Annual Open Enrollment Period (Active Employees)

The Open Enrollment period for the 2020-2021 plan year will be held May 1 - June 26, 2020. Benefits take effect October 1, 2020 with the exception to Flexible Spending Accounts which take effect September 1, 2020.

Annual Health Assessment (AHA)

The annual Health Risk Check (HRC) will have a name change to Annual Health Assessment (AHA) in January 2020. The measurement period will also change from birth month to a calendar format. 

Employees will be expected to complete the AHA anytime between January 1st - September 30th each year. Employees who do not complete the AHA between January 1st - September 30th will be charged an additional $25.00 each pay period for the health insurance. This deduction will start January of the following year and will last for a full year.

Prescription Drug Coverage

The City will be changing its prescription drug plan provider from Employer Health Options (EHO) to Prime Therapeutics, an affiliate of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Network, in January 2020.

  • Your benefit plan design is not changing. You may visit to view the over 65,000 pharmacies within the network and also view the prescription drug formulary by clicking on Prescription Drug Lists -> Large Group Plans -> SourceRx Drug List -> SourceRx 1.0 Drug List - 4 tiers (standard).
