The City of Montgomery provides competitive benefit options for all full-time employees and their eligible dependents. These benefits include Core benefits offered by the City and Voluntary benefits through Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company.
Core benefits include Group Health Plan (Medical, Dental, Prescription, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse), Basic Life Insurance, Dependent Life Insurance, Vision Insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, YMCA Discount Membership, Deferred Compensation, Employee Assistance Program, International Drug Program, and Primary Care and Wellness Centers.
The City’s Group Health Plan consists of Medical, Dental, & Prescription (Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama) and Mental Health & Substance Abuse (American Behavioral).
Two medical plans are offered based on hire date. Employees hired before May 23, 2014 have the option of both the Traditional PPO Plan and the HMP (Health Management Plan). Employees hired May 23, 2014 and after only option is the HMP Plan.

The City provides wellness centers, CareHere, free of charge for all employees and dependents (age 7 and up) insured on the City’s Group Health Plan. These centers offer extensive wellness services such as weight management counseling, exercise counseling, smoking cessation, and disease management.
CareHere can dispense over 180 generic medications and can write prescriptions to be filled by an outside pharmacy if needed. The centers cannot fill prescriptions written by another provider. You must be seen by a CareHere doctor to receive prescriptions. Ask your CareHere doctor if you qualify for the 90-day Mail Order Program!

Registration and Appointments
All employees and dependents must register first in order to be seen at CareHere. Once you are registered, you will be able to start using the Centers immediately. Registration and appointments can be done online www.carehere.com or by calling toll free 1-877-423-1330.
With most Colonial Life insurance products 1) benefits are paid directly to you, unless you specify otherwise; 2) you can continue coverage with no increase in premium when you retire or change jobs; 3) you're paid regardless of any other insurance you may have with other insurance companies; and 4) coverage is available for your spouse and dependent children. Helps pay for non-medical and out-of-pocket medical expenses upon diagnosis of a specified critical illness. This plan may also include a benefit for the treatment of cancer.

Covers a wide range of treatments and provides a fixed benefit amount for covered dental procedures and services. You can see any dentist you want, but you’ll receive discounted services if you choose an in-network dentist.
Helps offset the out-of-pocket medical and indirect, non-medical expenses related to cancer that most plans don’t cover. This coverage also provides a benefit for specified cancer-screening tests.
